About DefendMyBiz

DefendMyBiz is a California-based law firm dedicated to defending and empowering business owners operating in one of the nation’s most challenging labor environments. Based in Los Angeles, we represent employers, founders, and HR leaders facing real employment law threats in California from wage and hour disputes to wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, DLSE matters, and high-stakes compliance issues. In a state known for heavy, employee-friendly regulation and aggressive plaintiff’s counsel, we are the counterweight helping companies navigate risk, protect their interests, and defend with confidence.

Our Founding Story

Dear Business Owners,

I built this firm for one reason: I know exactly how it feels to be an entrepreneur in California—risking everything to grow a business—and then watching it all get threatened by a lawsuit. Before I became an employment defense attorney, I was a business owner just like you. I worked nights and weekends, skipped family time, signed personal guarantees, paid my employees when there wasn’t enough left to pay myself, and rode the emotional rollercoaster that comes with building something from scratch.

In my early twenties, I chased every opportunity I could find—from paper routes and mowing lawns as a kid, to a car-buying venture and a kickboxing studio as a young adult. Some ideas took off, many failed, and all of them taught me what it means to be responsible not just for yourself, but for your team and your family. Eventually, one business finally hit its stride. Revenue was steady, the company was growing, and for the first time I could come home, sit down to dinner, and feel like I was winning as both a business owner and a dad.

Then I learned the hard way what it really means to have employees in California. An employee I trusted—someone I considered a friend—embezzled money and took out large loans in the company’s name. When I fired him, he didn’t just walk away; he sued me for employment violations. I’ll never forget the pit in my stomach when I got that first call from a lawyer. I had never worked with an attorney before. Within months, I lost the money he stole and paid again to settle his claims. That business didn’t survive. I had to look my family in the eye and explain that everything we’d built was gone.

What stayed with me most wasn’t only the financial hit; it was the feeling of paralysis as that lawyer laid out all the terrible things he was going to do to me and my company. In that moment, I decided I would never let anyone make me feel that powerless again. A close friend said, “If you still want to be an entrepreneur and protect yourself from attorneys, why don’t you become an attorney and run your own law firm?” That simple question changed my life. I went to law school in Los Angeles with one clear goal: come back to the business world as an advocate, not a victim.

After law school, I launched my own firm and started by helping business owners with contracts and entity formations. Over time, I noticed something familiar—clients were facing the same kinds of employee-related risks that had destroyed my business years earlier. I also saw a clear pattern on the other side: plaintiff-side employment lawyers hunting for technical violations, using California’s one-sided labor laws to scare and pressure employers into quick payouts. It became obvious where I was needed most.

That’s when I made a decision that still defines this firm today: we represent California employers and business owners only—never employees. I’m an entrepreneur and employer first and a lawyer second. I don’t care how “easy” the money might be on the employee side or how common it is for other firms to take both types of cases. My mission is narrow by design: representing, protecting, and defending California employers against employment claims, lawsuits, PAGA actions, and predatory tactics.

Because we focus exclusively on employer defense, we see California employment issues every single day—wage and hour claims, harassment and discrimination allegations, retaliation claims, wrongful termination suits, PAGA representative actions, and everything in between. We know how plaintiff lawyers think, what they threaten, and which pressure points they try to exploit. That experience allows us to build strategies that are realistic, business-minded, and tailored to the risk profile of each employer we represent.

We can’t promise any specific result—no honest lawyer can. Every case is different. What we can promise is this: we will only stand on the side of California employers and we will do everything in our power to reduce your risk, protect your assets, and help you make smart, cost-effective decisions—whether that means negotiating an early settlement or fighting back when it makes business sense to do so. If it’s cheaper and smarter to resolve, we’ll tell you. If you have a strong defense and should hold your ground, we’ll tell you that, too.

You shouldn’t blindly trust any attorney you don’t know, and I don’t expect you to. That’s why we offer a free 15-minute consultation to talk directly with me, learn about your situation, and see if we’re a good fit—no pressure, no obligation, no wasted time. If your case isn’t right for us, we’ll tell you that up front so you’re not dragged into a relationship that doesn’t serve your business.

I started where you are now. I’ve had my business—and everything I worked for—put at risk by legal action. I’ve felt the fear, the uncertainty, and the frustration of dealing with California’s complex employment laws from the employer’s side of the table. That’s why my firm exists. Our one and only mission is to defend California employers and business owners from unfair labor laws and the attorneys who weaponize them.

If your company is facing a California employment claim or you’re worried your business is exposed, don’t wait as I did. Reach out now, schedule your free consultation, and put a law firm in your corner that understands your world because we’ve lived it—and is built entirely to protect it.
